When can I get my State Pension?

You are entitled to receive your basic State Pension (BSP) when you reach so-called State Pension Age (SPA). Your State Pension Age is regulated by law. The date you reach State Pension Age (SPA) depends on your gender and when you were born, namely:

1. If you are a woman born:

  • Before 6 April 1950, your SPA will be 60.
  • Between 6 April 1950 and 5 April 1955, your SPA will be between 60 and 65. From April 2010 the female State Pension Age is gradually rising to match this for men between April 2016 and November 2018.
  • Between 6 April 1955 and 5 April 1959, your SPA will be 65.
  • On or after 6 April 1959, your SPA will gradually increase from 65 to 68 between 2024 and 2046.

2. If you are a man born:

  • Before 6 April 1959, your State Pension Age is 65.
  • On or after 6 April 1959, your SPA will gradually increase from 65 to 68 between 2024 and 2046.
